If I hear someone speaking with a thick hick accent, I always ask where they're from to see if they happen to be from the midwest (which is the case many times). Breaks the ice,lets me into someone else's life and automatically we have found something in common.In terms of ancestry, I usually only ask if a person has an uncommon name or something unusual about their culture at home. It's all about interest (and being nosey).</description>

Can't wait to see what others say.&lt;BR/&gt;&lt;BR/&gt;For me.... well, I love to hear people tell me their story about why they moved here if they are from somewheres else.  It's a good way to get to know someone. AND if they say they are from NY... it makes me feel closer to my roots.
