Giving the Y Another Chance.

Giving the Y Another Chance.

Ok, so I’ve set a new health goal. I’m keeping it a little quiet until I am fully underway. With my goal though I really must do weight training on a very regular basis. I’d love to go back to LA Fitness, but we already have a membership at the Y where the kids are included and Jared like the pool fine there. Childcare everywhere else is outrageous. Plus, my MIL can be on our membership under the family rate since we live in the smae house. So, I have conceded to give the Y a second chance. Their weights are fine, but I hate that I can’t hide. Everything is so small that You have to be right where everyone is and there almost always is a wait for a machine. I’m going to venture into the free weight room next week to see if I like it better. I always did like free weights better.

Hope it al goes well. Let us know… Does this mean you will have big muscles? Oooh, one hot mama!

What do you mean about hiding? All the weights at LA Fitness are out in the middle of the room too, plus all the bikes and treadmills are surrounding you upstairs and looking down at you, so it seems like you’d be more hidden at the Y.

what time are you usually there? early morning and evenings are usually pretty quiet. I like the cardio loft cause I can watch the pool and the traffic so i forget that I can’t breathe

i like going an hour before closing. never a wait for a weight. of course, i haven’t been in months except to visit my working woman.

Jared goes later in the evening. I went at 4 pm Monday, that was bad. Too busy. I went at 5:30 am today. It was great. Early, but great. I had the free weight room to myself! I think that will be my time slot of choice.

I used to go the 24 hr Fitness between 10-11 pm and stay until 12-1 am. I must have been on crack. I then got up at 7am for work.
I think Randy and I are going to just buy an elliptical trainer and some weights when we get the money. You can come over and work out at our place!

wow, i’m barely able to drag myself out of bed at 5:30. how do you do it?

  8. kristi Says:

She sets her mind to something and goes for it. Perserverance and will power.

I can’t say its easy. I just figure I needed a new challenge to keep going and get in really great shape and I’m getting ready to turn 35 - halfway to the average lifespan age. It feels so great to think all day “I worked out already.”

  10. dr. stryker Says:

so what time do get up? 5am? do you go to bed at 9pm?

  11. Martha Says:

I have been having lights out at 9:30 and my alarm goes off at 4:50. That gives me a few minutes to realize I have to get up then up buy 5 or 5:05.

  12. nstryker Says:

i’m lucky to get into bed by 10. too many things to do constantly. :-(

  13. Martha Says:

I totally understand. I think I have to cut a few things out to make room. I really want to stick with this. For me to shut down by 9:30 is hard. A few people are going to write to the Y to ask them to open at 5. We’ll see what happens.

New business: The “Baldersons Gym”! But only our family can use it. And our friends. We can use our walk in closet or attic. What do you think?
