You can all stop looking now.

Saturday, June 17th, 2006

I found my keys. They were gone for two days. Riley misplaced them after getting something out of the car. I was standing in the kitchen and thinking and praying about where else I could look. We have this really scary junk drawer. I just looked at it and thought, hmmm. And, when I opened it, there they were. Thanks, God. I really didn’t want to replace all my work and house keys, plus those dang car alarm things are a lot of cash. Shew.

Funny Videos

Done and done.

Thursday, June 15th, 2006

I finally sent my entry in to the BFL headquarters today, FedEx, no less. After a fiasco with my pictures and them not looking that great in print, I prayed and sent it. It is in God’s hands now…well, it always was, but now I really can’t do anything else. So, now I wait 5 months to hear if I am a finalist. Hmmm, what shall I do ’til then? Maybe I’ll play tennis, swim, sell stuff on Ebay, and finish my bathroom. Ahhhh, Summer is so great!

How cool is this?

It’s Too Hard

Wednesday, June 14th, 2006

I saw this today and liked it. Maybe you might, too? Needing motivation to do something, anything? You can do it!

It’s Too Hard

Compared to what? Climbing Mt. Everest? Battling cancer?
Anything worth having, or doing, or being, requires
effort. You hold people who have achieved an incredible
body in high regard because you KNOW they worked hard
to create it. You admire their discipline. You envy
their persistence and consistent actions it took to
create it. You want the same looks and thoughts from
others about you.

But what if you could have whatever you wanted, again
and again, just by snapping your fingers? And what
if everyone else could, as well? How much would you
value and appreciate the things you had? What would
you do with your life, if there was no need for effort?
Where would you find meaning, what would give you satisfaction?

The greatest opportunity in life is not for a free
ride. The greatest opportunity is to be fully challenged,
and to meet challenge with effective effort. The things
we value are the things to which, and for which, we
give of ourselves. Some of the hardest working people
are those who are wealthy enough that they don’t need
the money. However, they do need the effort, and the
accomplishment, and the challenge. We all do. Without
it, life is shallow and empty. Make the effort. Do
it now. Start today to meet the challenge.

Two lessons…one for me, and one for all of us.

Monday, June 12th, 2006

1. For me:Don’t let anyone borrow my car.

2. For all of us: Let’s all be sure when we spill coffee with milk in someones car that we tell the person who owns the car it happened so they don’t wait a week to smell it and then spend two days trying to remove the smell.

As I scrubbed the carpet for the third time (Jared did it twice yesterday), I began to wonder if my 7th grade boys were watching me on candid camera, only minus the funny part.

Argh.

For Kristi…the Power of Nurses.

Saturday, June 10th, 2006

A motorcycle patrolman was rushed to the hospital with an inflamed appendix. The doctors operated and advised him that all was well. However, the patrolman kept feeling something pulling at the hairs on his chest. Worried that it might be a second surgery the doctors hadn’t told him about, he finally got enough energy to pull his hospital gown down enough so he could look at what was making him so uncomfortable. Taped firmly across his hairy chest were three wide strips of adhesive tape, the kind that doesn’t come off. Written in large black letters was the sentence: “Get well soon……. from the nurse you gave a ticket to last week.”

Summer Cleaning

Friday, June 9th, 2006

Since spring is crazy at school, the ole spring cleaning does not happen around here. So, today I began Summer Cleaning. I pulled out the couches and found an amazing array of items dropped by the kids and a few spiders. The dust bunnies weren’t too bad, but I did also find the remains of the work Jared did on the ceiling several months ago. I though he had vacuumed. I was wrong. After inspection the next thing on the list is the fridge. Time to pull everything out! My other goal for the summer is to get my room and bathroom finished up. Lofty goals. I like to shoot for the stars. :)
