Do you have a friend?

Wednesday, October 25th, 2006

I watch the girls at school and am reminded of what it was like to have a friend who knew everything about you and you were practically inseparable from. I miss that. In the world of adulthood is that possible? Seems not.

Have you reached a verdict?

Monday, October 23rd, 2006

After these amazing arguments, we have, your honor. NOT GUILTY!

I sent in the paragraph below and won! I got my $89 back today! Yeehaw! I really didn’t think I’d win, but it happened. There is justice in the world!

On July 25th, 2006 I, Martha Bangs, was driving over the Vineyard Ave. Bridge at the 101 Freeway. I sometimes have a problem with the seatbelt cutting into my neck. Although my seatbelt was fastened as it should have been, I hooked it beneath my elbow in order to keep it from digging into my neck. When the officer pulled me over he seemed to think I did not have it fastened, upon inspection he realized I did and said he pulled me over because of how I was wearing my seatbelt. He said it would not be any use to me worn in that manner. Upon issuing me a ticket, the ticket reads “No Seatbelt”. I was absolutely wearing my seatbelt and feel this ticket was unwarranted and plead not guilty. Section D states that “person must be restrained by a seatbelt.” I was restrained by a seatbelt and would never operate my vehicle without one.

“Are you awake?”

Friday, October 20th, 2006

This was at about 2:30 am, accompanied by pounding on the bed. Jared jumps up. “What’s going on?” I say. He’s standing by the bed now. “They are playing those bit torrent ceiling games,” he says. “OH, are they not supposed to?” I say, playing along, because I know he’s in his own world. He never says anything else, walks out in the hall way for a few minutes, comes back. I ask him what he’s doing. He says “Just going back to sleep.” Ok. It’s always fun when Jared talks in his sleep.

A Week off can be a bad thing

Thursday, October 19th, 2006

I don’t want to go back. At least there are only 4 weeks and then we get another week off and then three weeks after that is Christmas Break! Woo hoo. I do like teaching. Really. I do. I do like teaching.

Project Emma

Wednesday, October 18th, 2006

So we went costume hunting today. It was frustrating because of inappropriate costumes and prices are just crazy. I was trying to talk Emma into making a costume to no avail. So we took a walk while waiting for our tire to get fixed, to Joann Fabrics. She immediately saw the shiny fabrics and realized this could be a good idea. We picked a decent pattern and some fuzzy, pink leopard material and headed back home. She disappeared for about 30 minutes. When she came down from her room, she handed me this paper. I was completely impressed with the details. I’ve always known she is deeply creative, but to lay out her costume like this…next stop Project Runway. ( Don’t mention it to her. She is very sensitive about me sharing things about her.)

Fall Break Fun

Tuesday, October 17th, 2006

Yesterday we combed Ventura, doing nothing, trying to kill time while the house was cleaned. Then I painted the window seat in my bedroom. Woo hoo.

Today, I got to go have more gum surgery to prepare for my brace face. So by Christmas I should have braces. Having your gums poked, scraped and cut is not exactly pleasant, but Dr. Allen is really good and it is worth it. I’ve wanted braces ever since the vampire fangs came in.

I tried to hang my shades in my window but they just ended up pissing me off because I can’t get them to clip on. Stupid home improvement. I think I’d like to go back to renting.
Wow, whatever will I think of for tomorrow? Maybe I can get my armpits waxed or something excruciating like that.
