Emma does the dishes.
Emma does the dishes.

Something beautiful happened at our house. I taught Emma how to do the dishes. She now is scheduled to do them two days a week. Last night was her first night and she did awesome. I told her I would wash the pans but she insisted on doing it all. The only thing she forgot was to wipe the counter, but there are other people in the house that also do that…I won’t name names. But, I digress. It really is bittersweet watching your kids grow. Excuse me while I get a tissue.

That’s awesome! She will like it for maybe a few more washes. Then it will dawn (no pun intended) on her that it is a chore like none other. Enjoy it while it lasts, Martha! By the way, does she wear your yellow gloves while washing?

We’ll take her on Mondays and Thursdays from 6pm - 7pm.

Yep, yellow gloves and all. Well, there is allowance involved. So if the work stops, the cash stops.

What’s next? I suggest the toilets or maybe laundry…

Pretty tricky to teach her right before all the holiday dinners. Sneaky, sneaky. Tell her I’ll pay her to do the Thanksgiving dishes at our house. Not per dish though. I’d have to get a loan!
