Braces- Day 1, sort of
Braces- Day 1, sort of
Ok, so I thought it would be slap on the braces and go- back in the summer when I decided to proceed with the whole thing. HA! I have since had two gum surgeries which took from September til now to heal. Then today, I go to finally get the darn things on. The girl is having trouble with one of my bands and has changed sizes at least twice. She decides it still needs to be smaller then goes to take it off. I feel it come loose, then she jumps up and walks away. I hear my dentists name and then the ACTUAL orthodontist sits down (haven’t seen much of him yet). He asks me “Was that an old one?” I’m like “Huh? What are you talking about?” He says “Ohhhhhh, she didn’t tell you. Your crown came off when she removed the band.” What the HECK! So they have to finish up my upper braces and send me off to the dentist to get my crown glued on. I am over an hour late for getting back to work by then. Now, I have to return to the ortho tomorrow so they can put my lower braces on. Oh yeah, he also decide he wanted me to wear some bite protector thing that needs to be specially made and attached to my upper bands. I will need to return next week to get that installed.
So, anyway, making along story longer, they are mostly just weird right now. Not too sore. But I know with working out, the third day is always the worst.
I did feel bad for the braces putter onner girl, she was mortified and was so sorry that it happened. Whatever. What’s another day in two years?

They look good!! Did you see Best in Show? Parker Posey’s yuppy character wore braces. She was my favorite character. Remember she would go to Starbucks to “read” LL Bean. SO FUNNY!! Anyway, I think of her in that movie when I see braces on grown ups!

Sara is right- they are beautiful!
You should use them as an accessory- put the red and green bands on them for Christmas!

UPDATE:
The left side of the top is a bit sore, but I have to say, I’d rather be sore a million days than deal with this bite plate. They had it ready today, so onit went. It is soooo annoying. I can’t close all the way when I chew. So I kind of look like an old person without teeth trying to gum my food.
That Best in Show part is so funny. Really the whole movie is.
Oh, so you think Jared likes me? Yes ___ No___ Maybe____ (Check one)

Wow! You are one of the rare few adults that look good in braces! Sorry they hurt, though. It’ll pass soon.

So is the bite plate just so you don’t pop off brackets until you teeth move or does it have another purpose?
I guess maybe.

I think that’s it…he said as soon as things open up they’ll take it off. He said a time frame and I can’t remember exactly what he said. I’m praying for super teeth that move right away and quick.

I had a bite plate, too. I was the cool kid in middle school that had to take her bite plate out after lunch time to clean it. But, as I remember it, it’s to prevent your top teeth from knocking off the bottom braces. It was hard to get used to, I don’t think I had to wear it that long, so hopefully you won’t! It’s worth it, though.
I forgot about that character in Best in Show! I’m going to think of you reading LL Bean in Starbucks when I see your braces now

I could have been dreaming, but I thought he said I would have it off at the end of January. So that’s not too bad.
