It’s Not About Me

Monday, September 17th, 2007

When someone is hurting, why do I look at myself and say “what about me”? When a car wreck happens, why do I look at it and say “Thank God it’s not me”? When a friend has a problem, why do I say “call me”? When someone is leaving, why do I say, “what will I do without you”? When do I get to the point where everything is truly NOT about me. While I may be affected by the things, it’s not about me. Hm.

That stinkin’ Blue Whale

Sunday, September 16th, 2007

A blue whale died offshore from here and beached at Faria just 10 minutes north of Ventura (where I live, for all you who don’t live here). It is decomposing and stinks pretty bad. (Imagine old fish. Yum.) They were starting to dismantle it to bury it and we went out to check it out. I know, we’re weird. Bur seriously, when will I ever see this again?

Look at the guy standing next to it with the orange shirt. Gives a little perspective on how ginormous this thing is. The end where he is standing is where the tail was and they had already removed it and buried it.

Someone said it was bruised on it’s side indicating that a boat may have hit it, being the cause of death. Poor whale.

A Triathlete in the family

Sunday, September 16th, 2007

Here’s Jared finishing his first ever Triathlon! Congrats, Babe! He swam 1/2 mile, biked 12 miles and ran 3 miles and finished! He went with our dear friends, Dan and Sara. They did it to raise money for Stop The Traffik. I’m so proud of all of you!
