God’s redemption in Vons

God’s redemption in Vons

I went to Vons tonight. I don’t normally shop at Vons. I prefer on of the other big chains. Why? I think it is misguided loyalty from working there fresh out of high school. anyway, I was finishing up my shopping and it was pretty crowded. I was backtracking to grab something I missed when the lady in front of me stopped suddenly. I bumped her lightly with my cart and the guy behind me bumped me not so lightly. I was more irritated with the guy behind me for some reason and rolled my eyes over my shoulder and shook my head like the good loving Christian that I am. :( The lady that caused the pile up apologized and I moved on somewhat annoyed that the guy didn’t apologize. I started to get in line and looked over at him trying to catch his eye and make sure he knew he had done me wrong. As I eyed him, wanna guess what I saw?

A cane. A white cane. With a red tip.

Yeah, I’m an ass. Had I taken a minute to look around I may have seen that he was pretty much legally blind, squinting at the signs to find something and didn’t see me.

I was mentally flogging myself when I realized I needed something else on my list. So I ran over to the aisle and there was the guy. I heard him asking a lady where something was. She didn’t know and couldn’t find it. I saw it right away and got his attention. I was able to show him where it was.

Thanks God for letting me help him after I acted like an idiot. Even if he didn’t know.
