We took off to the nearest snow today and had a lot of fun! The boys dug up a picnic table that had been buried in snow and the kids were climbing in the hole. Riley likes to play the dramatic role, of course. See more here.

There was a lot more snow there than there was last year.
The table that formed the makeshift cave is either this one or this one, but as you can see, they weren’t nearly as covered then.
This time the only reason we even knew the table was there was because we remembered it from last year, and could see a slight (maybe 6 inches) rectangle shaped bump in the level snow around it. The top of the table was about a foot deep in the snow.

Very fun day. It was well worth the drive.
